CAWI (Computer Assisted Web Interviewing) CAWI (Computer Assisted Web Interviewing)

Computer Assisted Web Interviewing (CAWI) is a survey technique using the Internet. The respondent fills out an electronic form without the prompting of an interviewer. The completed questionnaire can then be sent by e-mail or posted on the website.

Advantages of using CAWI:

  • In most cases, this method is the most economical in terms of material and time costs.
  • It provides a wide range of opportunities to use video and audio materials, as well as images.
  • It enables companies to explore the behaviour of Internet users – companies can then access these results in real time via the web interface.
  • It provides a way of communicating with a more elusive audience.
  • It is suitable for studying any confidential, sensitive or personal topics/questions that respondents could refuse to answer when asked by an interviewer.
  • There are no geographical restrictions imposed on the research conducted.
